Week 9, not much.......

This week has been pretty busy. We went out to eat a few times. We were out and it ended up just being faster. I did make a caramelized chicken with rice, but it wasn't the best and I won't be making it again.
I'm still working on a food calendar. It's a lot of trial and error. I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to stick to a weeks worth of meals or if I can go longer than that.
I did manage to help out with some renovations at home. I saw a great shelf online made from wood and plumbing pipe. The only problem was that it cost $500! So, my husband and I decided to make one ourselves (see below). It cost less than 20% of the original and it's actually a lot bigger than the one I saw online. The best part is it only took about two days. It would have been much quicker but we had to wait overnight after we stained the wood.
Anyways, I'll get back to cooking this week........

Week 8, Kinda American........

For the past couple of weeks I've been trying to plan meals for the week ahead. It's been working out, but I think it's best if I actually make a calendar. I think that way it would be easier to stick to.
So, here are a few things that I made over the last two weeks.
I make pizza fairly often. I love it and I know restaurant pizza is loaded with calories I make my own at home. It only costs a couple of dollars that way, and it's sooooo much better for you. All in moderation, right? I also had a burger with grilled potatoes. The only part I didn't make from scratch (this time) was the hamburger bun. Lastly, I made chicken fajitas. I like to make way too much of the chicken so we can eat them for lunch all week.
One thing that I will try in the coming weeks is to make extra of our favorite foods. I like leftovers, so this way it will be easy to fix lunches.

Week 7, Nothing Specific..........

This week was very busy. I've had three midterms to study for. I've been talking about starting a food calendar and after this week, I am definitely going to start! The problem is that really good food can sometimes take time. Since I didn't really have free time to look for a recipe and plan a big meal, I made some of my go-to dishes. These are my twenty minute meals. You can see in the pics below that a few of the things I made this week were, baked chicken and potatoes, grilled chicken with pasta, and a ground beef cutlet with rice.
I know that last week in class we were talking about a goal for our blogs. I think that what I will try to work towards is getting a schedule together for meals and see what happens in the process. I'm hoping that by scheduling my meals I would be able to save the time and headache of trying to figure out what to eat at the last minute, and hopefully I can do it healthy and inexpensive. We'll see......
